FAQ

  • What is an herbalist?
    • There are actually several descriptions for what makes an herbalist an herbalist…including simply having a relationship with plants
  • What do I do as an herbalist?
    • As an herbalist, I seek a deep connection to the natural world that surrounds us. Through this connection, I build relationships with plant allies. These plant allies allow me to work with people through classes, workshops, plant walks, and through herbal wellness consultations to empower them with self-care options that incorporate plants into their self-care “toolbox.”
  • What can an herbalist not do? Herbalists are not medical doctors unless they are doctors who are also herbalists or Naturopathic Doctors.
    • This means that I cannot and will not attempt to diagnose, prescribe, cure, or treat a person’s disease, ailment. As an herbalist, it isn’t within my skill set to be a replacement to medical care where it is needed. If the support you’re seeking is beyond my skill set and would be best served by a medical doctor, I will ask that you see one before we move forward with a client/consultant relationship.
  • What kind of classes can you offer at my venue?
    • I do tailor all classes to the needs of the venue. We can set up a time to meet and discuss your ideas and needs. I take the time to consider who your target audience is and design something that will be accessible and engaging to those who attend.
    • Perhaps the most popular class that I offer is a Make ‘n’ Take class. This is a fun, hands-on experience that provides attendees with a botanical application that they can take home. Commonly make n’ take goodies have been oil infusions, herbal vinegar, salves, and herbal blends for tisanes, infusions, and decoction.
    • A more conventional style presentation which could include handouts, samplings, and open yet focused dialog about the subject matter.
    • A herb walk. If you have land that you would like to learn about, I can come out and present information regarding the plants growing on that property.
